Let's talk about Loneliness.....

Loneliness is not when there is no one around. Loneliness is not being alone.


Loneliness is a feeling, you can have people around you yet, you feel lonely.

Anyone can feel lonely, it maybe for a time or it may be all the time.


Loneliness can have detrimental effect on one's mental health.


A situation or an experience can make us feel lonely. E.g. trauma such as loss of a loved one, health challenges such as depression, anxiety or physical ill-health. You may feel isolated or you may be alienated by others and this can impact on your mental health.


Some of us are open to talk about our experiences and some are not. That's what makes us different. So, staying away from people does not always mean that the person is rude or arrogant. It could simply mean that she may be going through a difficult time.


How can you help?


  • It doesn't take too much to be kind to one another.

  • Reach out to someone, be available in your own little way.

  • Let the person know that you understand how she feels.

  • Plan a fun activities together, even if its is only going out for a walk.

  • Helping someone is good for your mental health too.

  • A simple act of kindness can brighten someone's world.
